SAILOR

Consign with Sailor

Sailor is a thoughtfully curated general store opening very soon in Greenwood, Seattle. We keep a small, carefully chosen mix of consignment pieces from makers and small brands whose work belongs next to our home goods, pantry items, houseplants, and gifts.

Consignment at Sailor is by application only. We have a specific aesthetic and strive to carry the very best quality so that the Sailor experience feels intentional.

How it works

  1. 1.Apply. Tell us about you and your work (details below).
  2. 2.We review. Every application is reviewed and we will reply within two weeks (probably sooner).
  3. 3.Sign the agreement. If it's a fit, we'll send a short consignment agreement.
  4. 4.Stock the shelves. Drop off your pieces with an inventory list. We check them in, tag them, and put them on the floor.
  5. 5.Get paid monthly. We send a sales statement and your payment every month.
  6. 6.Pop up. From time to time we might invite you into the shop to host a larger pop-up of your work. If you want to teach a class, all the better!

The terms at a glance

The split.
You receive 70% of the sale price of every item sold. Sailor keeps 30%.
Pricing.
You set the retail price. We won't discount your work without your OK.
Payment.
Monthly. By the 15th of each month, we pay for the previous month's sales and send a statement showing what sold.
Minimum inventory.
Keep at least $300 of your work (at wholesale value) in the shop at all times. Customers should always find something of yours on the shelf. We'll let you know when you're running low, and you'll have 14 days to restock.
Display.
We handle the merchandising: where your work goes, how it's styled, and when it moves. You don't have to worry about setup.
Breakage.
If an item is broken or damaged while it's in our shop, we cover it and pay you your share as if it had sold. If an item is damaged or fails because of poor workmanship or a manufacturing defect, that's your responsibility.
Ownership.
Your pieces belong to you until they sell.
Term.
Agreements start with a six-month term and then continue month to month. Either of us can end the arrangement with 15 days' notice, and you'll pick up any unsold items.

What we look for

  • A clean, modern aesthetic and cool branding
  • Quality craftsmanship and materials
  • Original work, or products you're legally free to sell
  • A style that suits Sailor and complements what we already carry
  • The ability to keep the shelf stocked (see minimum inventory above)
  • Retail-ready products: clean, finished, and labeled as required for their category (for example, candles, bath and body, and children's products have specific labeling and safety rules)
